Hi, I'm James

Let me be your next web developer

I'm a web developer that enjoys working both on front end and back end and constantly learning new things. From building and maintaining websites, to playing with APIs to build tools and apps, I love creating with code.

I have over 6 years online video experience, working with a London-based live streaming company. My role there covers a lot of different areas, keeping me on my toes managing multiple projects. Along with planning and filming live events, I also manage the company's player creation processes, creating tools with HTML, PHP, and Javascript to speed up player creation, interfacing with APIs and extending JW Player features using it's Javascript API.

My strength is with Javascript and JQuery, along with HTML5 and CSS, but I'm always looking at expanding my skills and learning new frameworks, languages and tools.

Here's a showcase of some of the projects I've worked on recently.

Multi Language Player

Web Design & Web Development

Created a multi-language player to allow viewers to watch a live stream listening to audio in their desired language.

Built on top of the JW Player Javascript API to add additional player controls for language selection.

Responsive design styled to match the clients website.

Facebook Page Tabs

Web Design

Created a number of small microsites to display live streams on Facebook’s Page Tabs.

Styled pages using assets and briefs from client.

Used Facebook SDK to set a fluid height for the page tab to ensure content was presented properly on Facebook.

Run Stats

Web Design & Web Development

Used the IFTTT’s WebHooks channel to log Strava run data to JSON using PHP.

Created a front end with Javascript functions to display most recent run stats, total stats to date and days until the London Marathon.

Added additional meta-data to the page to make the page display as a web app when added to the home screen on iOS devices.

Fuel App

Learning Web Design

Used Bootstrap to create a single page a fictional app landing page.

Included Bootstrap’s ScrollSpy plugin and the Jquery ScrollTo plugin for smooth scrolling between sections.
